Disruptive Student Disrupts the Flow

Ms. Spring a young history teacher, is passionate about her subject. However, her enthusiasm is constantly challenged by Kwame, a boisterous student who frequently interrupts lessons, makes inappropriate jokes, and engages in distracting behaviour. Ms. Spring has tried various strategies like verbal warnings, timeouts, and seating changes, but nothing seems to work. Kwame’s disruptions not only affect his learning but also hinder the progress of other students. Ms. Spring feels frustrated and overwhelmed, questioning her ability to manage the classroom effectively.

Challenges:

  • Chronic misbehaviour: Kwame’s repeated disruptive behaviour makes it difficult for Ms. Spring to maintain a focused learning environment.
  • Ineffective interventions: MS. Spring’s strategies haven’t addressed the root of his behaviour and haven’t provided him with alternative ways to express himself.
  • Emotional strain: The constant disruption takes a toll on Ms. Spring’s energy and confidence, leading to frustration and stress.
